Food composition databases

BareVue combines national and regional food composition tables so common foods can be matched to the most relevant authoritative source available.

Packaged-food labels, ingredients, nutrition facts, and barcode records are sourced from Open Food Facts.

Supplement label records are sourced from the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements.

Evidence used throughout BareVue

Beyond its catalog data, BareVue draws on guidance from many organizations, including the World Health Organization, the European Food Safety Authority, the National Institutes of Health, and many others, along with a broad body of primary research across nutrition and food science. BareVue cites the relevant sources in-app so you can review the evidence for yourself.
